Influenced by experiences, environment, life situations and inherited characteristics, personality is the way an individual thinks, feels and behaves. Personality disorders characterize a change in the above characteristics that deviate from cultural expectations, cause distress or problems in functioning.
Individuals with personality disorders have behavior patterns and experiences that differ significantly from what is expected, with long-term implications. Without treatment, they can be long-lasting and bring countless harm to the patient, affecting the way they think about themselves and others and their emotional responses.
