Saúde mental de escolares adolescentes após a pandemia por COVID-19 em um ambiente com histórico de violência

A emergência global devido a COVID-19 confirmou que os mais afetados pelo vírus são os mais vulneráveis e marginalizados na sociedade. A pandemia não discriminou, mas teve um impacto desproporcionalmente negativo sobre a saúde mental de crianças e adolescentes mais desfavorecidas social e economicamente. Dessa maneira, nesse estudo, objetiva-se avaliar a saúde mental de escolares adolescentes após o período de distanciamento social devido a pandemia por COVID-19, em uma comunidade com histórico de violência e suicídio entre escolares, e correlacionar tais achados com condições sociodemográficas, econômicas e experiências pessoais e familiares ao contexto do distanciamento social. Para isso foram aplicados os questionários: “Children Depression Inventory” – CDI, Beck’s Depression Inventory” – IDB e “Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children” – MASC, além de um questionário sociodemográfico do participante da pesquisa e outro do cuidador principal. A coleta de dados foi realizada entre setembro e dezembro de 2022, com escolares adolescentes com idades entre 15 e 19 anos. Durante toda a pesquisa foram realizadas palestras na escola participante, com abordagem de temas relevantes à prevenção em saúde mental. A análise dos resultados aconteceu categorizada pela presença ou não de sintomas depressivos e/ou ansiosos, de acordo com o ponto de corte de cada instrumento (CDI, maior ou igual a 18, IDB, maior ou igual a 10 e MASC, maior ou igual a 56). Pouco menos da metade dos escolares apresentaram sintomas depressivos e ansiosos, corroborando com estudos anteriores que apontam um incremento na prevalência de depressão e ansiedade entre adolescentes. Este estudo avaliou adolescentes em suas comunidades escolares, com suas vivências de desigualdades. Assim, o impacto da pandemia por COVID-19 foi exacerbado pela disparidade social e econômica.
