In some religions, it is normal for their followers, better known as mediums, to hear voices, have visions, and feel a presence. These manifestations can be confused with symptoms of mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia. How to differentiate these two cases? What is the differential diagnosis of mediumship and delusion? Can the psychiatrist work with the patient's religious mentor?
