Depression in high performance athletes

A disease often silent, depression currently affects more than 300 million people worldwide, according to the World Health Organization - WHO. Recently, the removal of football players and other athletes has gained space in the media and brought the spotlight to the disease. Due to the demand for physical effort and high performance, which characterizes an environment conducive to the development of depression and other psychiatric disorders. The pressure for results also aggravates and becomes a trigger for the appearance of symptoms such as constant sadness, changes in appetite, loss of concentration, reflexes, among others.
