According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the definition of health is linked not only to the absence of disease, but to a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being. Still according to the WHO, the prevention and treatment of certain mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia and depression, for example, directly contributes to the reduction of rates such as suicide. Early recognition and treatment of depression, alcohol dependence and schizophrenia, for example, are important strategies. Even so, prevention in psychiatry and mental health is still very complex.
