Abstract

Schizophrenia occurs worldwide. The severity of symptoms and the chronic duration pattern commonly lead to some degree of disability. Medications and therapeutic and supportive interventions, when followed regularly, can help lessen and control the symptoms that bring so much distress. However, some people do not have access to treatment, others do not improve much with available treatments, or abandon treatment due to lack of adequate guidance and support. There are still those who stop taking the drugs because of their unpleasant side effects or for other reasons. About 1% of the world's population suffers from the disorder and for this reason ABP TV will talk to psychiatrists Deyvis Rocha, Hélio Elkis and Rodrigo Bressan who will talk about their experiences with the disease.
