Eating disorders (ED) are psychiatric disorders characterized by changes in eating behavior that lead to the development of physical and psychological problems, as well as emotional and social stress. The most common conditions are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, in addition to unspecified eating disorders and binge eating disorder. Both bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa are more common in women than in men, with less than 10 percent of cases occurring in men. They are also more frequent in adolescents and young women.
