Sleep medicine is the induction of sleep for psychiatric purposes, it is an area of health that studies the functions of sleep, its disorders and the impact of these disorders on the lives of individuals. Currently, more than eighty sleep disorders are known and these can be divided into those that: cause a reduction in sleep, such as insomnia; those that lead to increased sleep such as narcolepsy and sleep apnea; and those that occur during sleep without altering your sleep duration, such as teeth grinding during sleep (bruxism), urination during sleep (nocturnal enuresis, urinary incontinence), sleepwalking, nightmares, night terrors, snoring and talking during sleep (somniloquy).
