Abstract

Pregnancy is a difficult emotional time in a woman's life. Despite the happiness of being generating another being, mood swings due to hormones can harm the pregnant woman's relationships with other people. This period can be even more difficult if the woman suffers from a psychiatric illness such as bipolar disorder, in addition to managing the natural anxiety of waiting, it is necessary to control the illness. According to data from the Brazilian Association of Bipolar Disorder, 1% of the world's population suffers from the disorder and 50% of those with it commit suicide at least once.
