Munchausen syndrome by proxy is a form of child abuse in which the person responsible invents or intentionally produces signs or symptoms of illness, as well as changes in laboratory tests. People suffering from this syndrome are constantly found in medical emergencies with their victims claiming that they have wounds or functional problems, claiming that medical attention is needed. The factors that lead a person to this behavior are unknown, but it is believed that trauma in childhood, loss of a loved one, serious illness in childhood, personality disorders, depression, among others, may be some of the triggers for development. This day is also marked as World Mental Health Day and we will display a special painting celebrating such an important date!
