Schizophrenia is a mental illness that, according to data from the World Health Organization - WHO, is the third cause of loss of quality of life between the ages of 15 and 44. According to estimates, it affects around 1.6 million Brazilians.
Among its main symptoms are delusions, hallucinations, changes in thinking, changes in affectivity, indifference, difficulty concentrating. The cause of the development of schizophrenia is still unknown, but the combination of some genetic, brain and environmental factors can trigger the disease. Schizophrenia treatment aims to control symptoms and return to routine, work and relationships with friends and family.
