Down Syndrome is a genetic occurrence that represents the trisomy of chromosome 21. According to the Ministry of Health, in Brazil, one in every 700 births is of a child with the syndrome, totaling 270,000 Brazilians living with this condition.
Although it is not a disease, Down Syndrome is associated with some health issues, such as respiratory, cardiovascular and even psychiatric problems.
On March 21, International Down Syndrome Day is celebrated, so today ABP TV will address concerns about the mental health of people with Down Syndrome.
