According to studies, about 80% of the population has experienced some type of traumatic event throughout their lives. However, only a small portion of people exposed to these types of events respond unfavorably and develop significant symptoms. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the most emblematic psychiatric consequence of exposure to trauma. The prevalence of PTSD in the general population can reach about 5% of men and 10% of women, which characterizes the disorder as one of the most frequent.
