Doctors have a mission to care for their patients, but those who care also need care. Due to all the day-to-day pressure, doctors reach a very high level of stress that can trigger various diseases such as depression, chemical dependency and consequently suicide. According to published studies, doctors commit suicide five times more often than the rest of the population. The Regional Council of Medicine of the State of São Paulo released a study in which it says that in 2012 among the external causes of death of doctors in São Paulo, suicide appears in second place: 21% in the case of women and 18% in men.
