A gestão de emergências psiquiátricas em situações de calamidade pública

Resumo

Há uma elevada prevalência de problemas de saúde mental na população em geral durante calamidades públicas. Em situações de calamidade, o número de pacientes que apresentam surtos ou crises de transtornos mentais pode aumentar, mas os sistemas de apoio necessários para ajudá-los podem ser prejudicados se não tiverem recebido o planejamento adequado. Embora existam diversos modelos de resposta às emergências psiquiátricas, as regras gerais são as mesmas, especialmente quando se trata de tornar estes serviços mais facilmente acessíveis à população afetada. Neste artigo, procuramos revisar e apresentar recomendações para o manejo de emergências psiquiátricas em situações de calamidade pública, incluindo desastres, catástrofes físicas e médicas, epidemias e pandemias.
