Impulsivity is a characteristic that, when exacerbated, can cause several damages to the individual. Such behavior can be considered as an ineffective adjustment to unpredictable day-to-day situations. Some psychiatric disorders may be directly associated with the control of impulsivity and, therefore, require adequate attention and treatment aimed at this characteristic. Cognitive-behavioral therapy can be an excellent ally in the treatment of such diseases, but how can a psychiatrist use it in addressing mental disorders related to impulsivity?
