Dependência de internet e relação com distúrbios mentais em adolescentes

Introdução: A adolescência é um período desafiador para a construção da identidade e da personalidade. O acesso facilitado e o uso deliberado da Internet podem ocasionar diferentes tipos de distúrbios mentais nos adolescentes. Objetivo: Quantificar a prevalência da dependência de Internet e analisar seu impacto no desenvolvimento e/ou manutenção de distúrbios mentais em adolescentes. Método: Parecer CEP e TCLE foram entregues. Estudo realizado com estudantes de Ensino Médio de escolas públicas de Passo Fundo (RS), em novembro e dezembro de 2023. Foram aplicados questionários contendo características sociodemográficas e comportamentais, e dois testes: o Teste de Dependência de Internet [1] e o Teste de Depressão, Ansiedade e Estresse [2]. Foram calculadas a frequência absoluta e relativa das variáveis dependente e independentes, e a prevalência de dependência de Internet e sua relação com os transtornos e demais variáveis. Resultados: A amostra (n=139) é composta predominantemente por mulheres (53,2%), de 16 anos (47,5%), brancas (61,2%), de renda familiar baixa (33,1%). Quanto ao uso de Internet: 75,5% passam mais de 3h por dia na Internet e utilizam o smartphone para acessá-la (89,2%). 17% apresentam algum grau de dependência de Internet; 42% possuem sintomas condizentes com o transtorno ansioso; 25% apresenta sinais de depressão; e 22% demonstram indícios de estresse. Constatou-se uma associação positiva entre depressão, ansiedade e estresse e a dependência de Internet (p<0,05). Conclusão: A dependência de Internet está relacionada ao desenvolvimento ou manutenção de distúrbios mentais. Evidencia-se seu impacto negativo à saúde mental e a necessidade de medidas que visem ao melhor acolhimento e orientação dos adolescentes.
