Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria (RBP) was created in the same year as Associação Brasileira de Psiquiatria (ABP), i.e., 50 years ago. However, the journal was disconti nued for some ti me, resulti ng in a change of its ti tle to Revista da ABP and later to Revista ABPAPAL, remaining so for 20 years. Notwithstanding, the journal has always been an offi cial publicati on of ABP. As the history of the journal is intertwined with the history of the Associati on, several ABP presidents have been menti oned – all of whom have brought forward substanti al changes and improvements to the journal –, as well as many editors who have devoted their eff orts to consolidati ng RBP, presently a journal with substanti al nati onal and internati onal recogniti on.
