Dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities): case report and study

In clinical practice we are often faced with patients who are victims of violence, especially in early developmental stages, which is a major cause of dissociative disorders (or complex posttraumatic stress disorder). This article describes the case of a patient diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder after being symptomatic for 10 years, and comments on the clinical management and challenges involved in the treatment of these patients.
