Pedophilia: case report

Sexual offences against children account for a significant share of sexual crimes. In this paper, we focus on pedophilia, a paraphilia with important influences in forensic practice, especially because of the targeted victims (children). We report the case of an offender facing charges of child sexual abuse and subjected to legal responsibility assessment at a Brazilian forensic psychiatric institution. The case evidences the need to broaden our knowledge of the different profiles of aggressors, so as to improve both their identification and treatment.
