Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder characterized by heterogeneous clinical manifestations. The objective of this article was to perform a systematic review of the literature on symptom evaluation scales used in schizophrenia and validated for use in Brazil. A search was conducted on five different electronic databases. Of the 331 abstracts accessed, 9 articles were read fulllength, of which 5 were included in the analysis. The main scales identified are intended to assess several clinical dimensions. The scale most widely studied in the literature was the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS). The authors conclude that important clinical assessment scales have already been validated for use in Brazil, and there are currently no validated instruments to evaluate the negative dimension separately.
