Abstract

As part of the yellow September campaign actions, which began last Sunday, ABPTV will make a series of special programs on suicide prevention. In this first program, we will address the theme "How to fight stigma", with the presence of the national coordinators of the Campaign, Dr. Antonio Geraldo da Silva and Dr. Alexandre Paim-Diaz. According to data from the World Health Organization - WHO, cases of death by suicide are directly related to the presence of psychiatric disorders. Such illnesses may have been inadequately treated or not followed up at all. The stigma that surrounds mental illness is a major obstacle to its correct treatment and, consequently, an important factor for the risk of suicide. But what must be done to effectively combat stigma and save lives? This and other questions will be answered from now on.
