Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental and behavioral disorder that begins in childhood and, in some cases, continues through adolescence and even into adulthood. ADHD is characterized by the combination of symptoms of inattention with those of hyperactivity and impulsivity. During childhood, people with ADHD are seen as inattentive or very agitated (boys generally show more symptoms of hyperactivity than girls).
ADHD treatment is carried out with a combination of medication, guidance to parents and teachers and specific psychotherapy techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy.
