Avanços científicos em psiquiatria

Recentes avanços cientí fi cos em psiquiatria têm gerado uma melhora nos parâmetros de saúde pública nos transtornos mentais. Abordagens translacionais da bancada para a beira do leito têm obti do novos conhecimentos sobre os biomarcadores e facilitado a identificação de novos e melhores tratamentos para as doenças mentais. Inúmeras técnicas, como a genômica e toda a nova geração “ômica”, têm auxiliado na compreensão das bases neurobiológicas dos transtornos mentais. A incorporação de variáveis dimensionais e biológicas ao diagnóstico, com o advento da 5ª edição do Manual Diagnóstico e Estatí sti co de Transtornos Mentais e do Research Domain Criteria, pode auxiliar na identi fi cação de tratamentos personalizados, associados a melhor evolução e prognóstico.
