The future of people suffering from mental disorders in conflict with the law after the publication of Resolution 487/23 by the National Council of Justice

The purpose of this article is to discuss and criticize the Resolution 487 of the National Council of Justice, which intends to extinguish forensic psychiatric hospitals in Brazil. The resolution violates Law 10.216, when it does not guarantee that people with mental disorders will have access to the best treatment in the health system, in accordance with their needs. Consequently, it harms society, patients with mental disorders and health services, imposing risk to them.
