Abstract

Introduction: Suicide, a leading cause of death, particularly affects children and adolescents, and is preceded by suicidal ideation and attempts. Objective: To analyze the relationship between suicide risk factors and highlight the importance of awareness and preventive strategies to reduce the incidence of suicide. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, with research on articles published between 2019 and 2024 in the PubMed database. Results: The studies analyzed 20,317 students, mainly adolescents aged 15-16 years, using varied methods such as clinical trials and group interventions. Some interventions showed significant reductions in suicidal ideation, while others had no impact on suicide attempts or self-harm. Effective interventions included resilience programs and early screening, especially in school settings, highlighting the importance of approaches adapted for adolescents. Conclusion: Identifying and managing risk factors, such as mental disorders and hopelessness, is essential to prevent suicide in adolescents. Interventions are effective, although their effectiveness may vary in different contexts.
