Crime and mental illness in the light of criminal law and forensic psychiatry

The aim of this article is to revisit in a narrative way the concepts of crime, culpability, punishability and security measure and their connections with mental illness. Criticism of deinstitutionalization without planning is carried out and the importance of Forensic Psychiatry as a specialty that deals with the interface between law and psychiatry is pointed out.
