The first psychopharmaceuticals appeared in the 1950s, inaugurating modern psychopharmacology by replacing sedatives and hypnotics. As of the end of the 1980s, new psychopharmaceuticals emerged, based on the growing research and the consequent scientific advances, which were crucial for the evolution of psychopharmacology. In this way, it was possible to provide better treatments and a better quality of life for people with mental illnesses. Today, ABP TV will address the theme "Special CBP: Updates in Psychopharmacology", addressing mainly the innovation of psychopharmacology in the elderly, in women during pregnancy and lactation, and also the new generation of antidepressants - activities that will take place during the Brazilian Congress of Psychiatry.
