Contribuições dos “estudos de famílias” em TDAH - uma ferramenta útil para pesquisas sobre a etiologia do TDAH

Resumo

O Transtorno do Déficit de Atenção e Hiperatividade (TDAH) é amplamente reconhecido como um transtorno de etiologia neurobiológica, porém suas bases etiológicas ainda não são completamente reconhecidas. Achados sobre epidemiologia do TDAH apontam para aumento de prevalência de sintomas em familiares de indivíduos portadores. Estes resultados incentivaram um grande número de pesquisas sobre genética do TDAH, bem como sobre as influências da gestação e até mesmo do ambiente familiar na gênese do TDAH. Os estudos epidemiológicos que investigam portadores de um transtorno e seus familiares tornaram-se ferramentas úteis para auxiliar a melhor compreensão das bases genéticas e ambientais dos diversos transtornos mentais. O artigo apresentado revisa, de forma não sistemática, alguns dos principais achados sobre etiologia do TDAH, focando-se mais precisamente nos estudos que se utilizam de bases familiares. Os achados aqui apresentados devem servir como base para o entendimento atual dos estudos de famílias em TDAH, e auxiliar pesquisadores que se interessam tanto por epidemiologia genética, quanto por pesquisas em TDAH.
