The paper investigated the facial expressiveness of emotion of a perpetrator of a case of mass murder (MM) in terms of validity and physiological alert, hypothesizing its potential relationship of contiguity with certain configuration patterns of personality traits, using the five major factors model. The study used as a method of analysis identification of muscle action units involvedin observable manifestations of basic emotions, using the emotion facial action coding system. A single video was analyzed that was recorded by the perpetrator in advance of the attacks and is in the public domain. Through frame-by-frame analysis, the data were used for detailed identification of facial movement patterns. The characteristics of these patterns (triggers, frequency, intensity) provided sources of information for understanding specific emotional triggers and the configurations of certain personality traits, for development of potential criteria for assessment of risk in similar situations in the future.
