This article aims to critically review the techniques known as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. The method used was a non-systematic analysis of the literature available on both approaches over the last 11 years. The conclusions are that although science has made significant progress in establishing links between the forms of illness among drug addicts and the psychotherapeutic resources considered effective, more specific and in-depth studies are still needed to be able to therapeutically intervene in patients who do not respond to any of the approaches already developed.
