The present work was done in order to get a better evaluation of psychiatric diagnostics in medical general clinics and a better comprehension for medical students of psychiatrist symptoms. Methods: Medicine students carried out psychiatrics interviews with inpatients of the medical general clinic in the University Hospital of Taubaté. Four interviews were done: Beck depression inventory,
Beck anxiety inventory, and WHO’s quality of life questionnaires Results: High scores were found (>13- BDI, 8-BAI and 91- WHOQOL) on 27%, 36%, e 32% patients of the study, respectively. The inverse proportional relation between quality of life and high scores of depression and anxiety was observed. The inpatients with high scores of depression and anxiety on the Beck-Depression and Beck-Anxiety were sent to psychiatric treatment.
