Adherencia terapéutica en el trastorno bipolar

Resumen

La adherencia terapéutica es un problema importante para el tratamiento de enfermedades crónicas. En el trastorno bipolar, la falta de adherencia al tratamiento contribuye a la brecha entre la eficacia y la efectividad del tratamiento para estos pacientes. La falta de adherencia terapéutica es frecuente en el trastorno bipolar, con estudios que demuestran tasas de hasta el 50% de falta de adherencia en pacientes estadounidenses. Se han asociado múltiples factores con la falta de adherencia en el trastorno bipolar. Entre ellos, se pueden destacar los factores sociodemográficos, las actitudes hacia la enfermedad/tratamiento y los factores específicamente relacionados con el tratamiento. A pesar de esto, medir la falta de adherencia terapéutica es un gran desafío, con instrumentos que no pueden garantizar una buena precisión. Finalmente, el uso de intervenciones psicosociales puede mejorar la adherencia terapéutica en pacientes con trastorno bipolar.
