Trastorno bipolar: una enfermedad heterogénea que requiere una perspectiva de abordaje más amplia

Los autores revisan la literatura sobre las características epidemiológicas y clínicas, el curso y la evolución, además de las comorbilidades y la morbimortalidad del trastorno bipolar. Debido a la heterogeneidad de la enfermedad, se propone una perspectiva más amplia de abordaje de la enfermedad, abarcando la prevención primaria, la rehabilitación de los casos más comprometidos y la prevención secundaria como objetivo principal en los casos adecuadamente diagnosticados. Se propone recurrir al razonamiento médico y a la suma de evidencia clínica para establecer el diagnóstico multiaxial y las estrategias de intervención necesarias.
