Introduction: Suicide is a public health problem that affects millions of people worldwide. In Brazil, higher rates are in older men (60 to 69 years), ranging between 10 and 14 per 100,000 inhabitants. In this sense, the Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS) are specialized service locations for mental health care in the Unified Health System (SUS). Objective: To present suicide rates and associated sociodemographic factors in Goiás, in addition to describing the coverage rates by CAPS 2012 and 2021. Methods: This is an ecological, descriptive study, carried out from secondary data, obtained by the National Registry of Health Establishments and by the Mortality Information System between 2011 and 2021. The calculation of suicide rates was given by the search for deaths whose basic cause was coded between X-60 and X-84, categories of self-inflicted injuries within the chapter "External Causes" of the 10th edition of the International Classification of Diseases. Results: 5,023 suicide deaths were reported in the state of Goiás between 2012 and 2021, where 78.06% were male of brown race/color (58.71%) with an age group of 20 to 29 years (22.24%). Hanging was the most common method used (69.40%). During 2011 to 2021 there was the opening of 48 CAPS, a growth of 100% in coverage. Conclusions: Therefore, the suicide rates in the state reflect the need for greater attention to the theme, with improvement of the care network and greater subsidies for mental health institutions.
