The author presents a review of the autism picture, focusing on its differential diagnosis, both with the pathologies included in the group of Pervasive Developmental Disorders and with other pathologies that affect childhood and adolescence. At the same time, it presents a diagnostic protocol for clinical and research purposes that proves to be useful in exploring these conditions, especially considering their diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic approach.
