Resumo

Evidências apontam que o tratamento farmacológico da agitação psicomotora é indicado apenas após as abordagens não farmacológicas falharem. A causa da agitação, os efeitos colaterais das medicações e suas contraindicações devem direcionar a escolha da medicação. A via oral deve ser preferida para administração; a administração intravenosa deve ser evitada. Todos os indivíduos devem ser monitorados antes e após a administração da medicação.
