Voyeurism is defined as recurrent, intense sexual arousal from observing an unsuspecting person who is naked, in the process of disrobing, or engaging in sexual activity. The disorder is most common among young men with low socioeconomic status, and the voyeuristic interest usually emerges during adolescence. Even though the prevalence of voyeurism in the general population ranges from 4 to 12%, its study continues to be neglected. In order to illustrate and understand this variation of sexual behavior, we report the case of a patient with voyeuristic disorder in the context of a criminal medical evaluation (imputability examination).
